Get to know us

Richley Rentals is a locally owned equipment hire company based in Toowoomba, proudly serving the Darling Downs region with specialist access machinery. We offer scissor lift and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) hire and servicing for a wide range of clients – from construction and mining to agricultural and DIY projects .

Originally founded with a niche focus on EWPs, we have rapidly expanded our fleet and services to meet customer demand.
Our mission is to provide more than just machines; we deliver reliable equipment, 24/7 support, and a customer-centric approach that sets us apart in the Toowoomba market. In fact, we’re striving to be the leading scissor lift rental and service provider in the region , and we credit our growth to satisfied clients, repeat business, and positive word of mouth.

Our journey

Established in 2018 with a single 19-foot scissor lift, Richley Rentals quickly expanded to meet growing demand—adding a 33-foot rough terrain lift by year one, becoming an EWPA-accredited inspector in 2019, and launching into earthmoving with a 4T excavator by 2020. Today, we’ve completed over 400 equipment inspections and serve more than 100 returning clients. What started as a one-machine hire has grown into a trusted, full-service partner driven by a young, energetic team.

Part of the Richley Group – More Than Just Rentals

Formally Richley Rentals is now part of the locally owned Richley Group – a family of businesses offering more than just rentals.
Alongside access hire, we provide servicing, breakdown repairs, equipment sales, and even demolition and earthmoving support through our brother divisions.

Whether you’re looking to hire, buy, or get expert help on-site, we’ve got the tools and team to make it happen – safely, efficiently, and locally.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ's)

Is a deposit required when hiring our equipment?

For first-time customers, yes – we typically require a refundable security deposit before releasing the equipment . This deposit confirms your booking and covers any potential damages or extra charges. For returning customers with an established good track record, we can usually waive the upfront deposit and simply invoice you upon completion of the hire period . This policy ensures trust and peace of mind on both sides.

Do you deliver to the site?

We offer convenient options to get the equipment to your site. Our 19-foot electric scissor lift comes with its own trailer, so you can tow it behind a suitable vehicle yourself . This makes pick-up and drop-off very straightforward. For our larger lifts (like the 33ft rough terrain scissor lift), you will need a truck or trailer capable of moving the unit. If you don’t have the means, just let us know – we can arrange delivery and pickup through a trusted third-party transport service for an additional fee . (Please note: we do not have a loading ramp at our depot, so all pickups require a trailer or tail lift.)

What does your 24/7 support cover?

Our 24/7 support is an on-call breakdown service designed to keep your project running with minimal interruptions. It covers technical assistance over the phone at any hour, and if the issue can’t be resolved remotely, we will dispatch a qualified breakdown mechanic to your site as soon as possible . Whether it’s midnight or Sunday morning, if your hired machine won’t start or encounter a fault, just call us. We’ll do everything we can to get you back to work quickly. This around-the-clock support applies to all our rental equipment – it’s part of the value we provide to ensure you have peace of mind on every job.

How long can I hire the equipment for?

We offer very flexible rental periods. You can hire our machines for a single day, a week, a month, or even longer. Whether you need a lift for just one afternoon or for several months on a major project, we can accommodate it. Our standard hires are often day-by-day or week-by-week, but we also do longer-term rentals – in fact, we provide special negotiated rates for hires longer than two weeks . If you have an ongoing need, talk to us about a long-term hire or lease arrangement. We pride ourselves on working with our customers’ schedules, so you’re not locked into rigid contracts. Just let us know your timeframe, and we’ll make it work.

Do you offer on-site familiarisation or training?

While we don’t provide formal training courses, we won’t hand you the keys and leave you guessing. For new customers or those unfamiliar with a particular machine, we’re happy to give a basic orientation at pickup or delivery. Our team can show you the controls, safety features, and best operating practices for the scissor lift or equipment you’re hiring. This usually only takes a few minutes and can make a big difference in your comfort level. For those looking for more in-depth training (like an EWPA Yellow Card course for operating EWPs), we can guide you to local training providers. Safety is paramount for us, so please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions about operating the machinery.

What areas do you service?

We are based in Toowoomba, and we service the entire Darling Downs region and beyond . Our typical service area includes Toowoomba and surrounding communities across South-East Queensland. This can extend to places like Dalby, Warwick, Chinchilla, Gatton, Oakey, and everywhere in between. If you’re located in or near the Darling Downs, we can likely provide you with equipment and support. In fact, we’ve recently expanded services to areas like Warwick as well . For distant locations, just contact us – we’ll see what’s possible. We’re committed to helping as many local businesses and projects as we can, and being flexible with our reach is part of that commitment.

How do I go about arranging a quote?

It’s easy – just reach out to us! You can call our team directly to discuss your needs, or send us an inquiry via our website’s contact form or email. We’ll chat with you about your project requirements (e.g. working height, indoor/outdoor, duration) and recommend the best equipment for the job. From there, we provide a free quote with transparent pricing and terms. If you’re happy with it, we’ll schedule the pickup or delivery details to suit your timeline. We strive to make the hire process as smooth as possible, with clear communication at every step. And remember, our friendly staff are here to answer any questions before, during, or after your rental. Don’t hesitate to get in touch – we’re here to help make your job easier.

Are the machines well-maintained & reliable?

Absolutely. We take maintenance very seriously. All our rental units are late-model, well-serviced machines that undergo regular inspections . Before and after every hire, we check the equipment to ensure it’s in top working condition. Our team includes experienced EWP mechanics who perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and safety checks on each scissor lift. We also keep detailed service records and adhere to manufacturer and industry maintenance schedules. The result is reliable equipment you can trust. When you rent from Richley Rentals, you can be confident the scissor lift or excavator has been cared for and will perform safely. And on the rare occasion something does go wrong, our 24/7 breakdown support (as mentioned above) has you covered.
